Ian is BDO's Life Sciences sector-specialist audit partner. He is focused on delivering a high quality audit process, assisting his clients with all aspects of their audit, assurance and UK, IFRS or US financial reporting requirements. Ian has significant experience working with public companies (AIM and Nasdaq markets in particular, including IPOs), private equity/venture capital backed businesses and private companies. Ian's sector expertise in Life Sciences spans biotechnology, medical devices and pharmaceuticals, but his clients cover a broad range of industries including technology, manufacturing and retail.

Carole is a corporate tax director in the Reading office. She has over 18 years’ experience working with clients ranging in size from early stage businesses to FTSE 100 organisations with particular expertise in technology, life sciences and PE backed businesses. Carole has advised on a broad range of tax matters including UK and international structuring, compliance and risk management, tax strategy, tax efficient supply chain management, M&A related issues from both a personal and corporate perspective, partnership taxation and employee incentives.
Alex Mackay
Director - Corporate Finance - M&A @BDO LLP
Alex has extensive experience of working with entrepreneurs, corporates and private equity on a wide range of M&A transactions, principally within the Life Sciences sector. His focus is on supporting clients in achieving their growth strategies and objectives, with an emphasis on building long-term relationships. In addition to Life Sciences, he has worked across a wide range of sectors including the consumer, financial services, industrials, information services, manufacturing, media and technology sectors. Alex previously worked within the M&A team of a FTSE 50 corporate focused on acquisitions, divestments and minority investments into companies ranging from start-ups to multinationals, giving him a distinctive insight into perspective of an acquirer.
